2008 Pacific hurricane season07.09.08

The 2008 Pacific hurricane season is an ongoing event in the annual cycle of tropical cyclone formation. It officially started May 15, 2008 in the eastern Pacific, started on June 1, 2008 in the central Pacific, and will last until November 30, 2008. In meteorology, a tropical cyclone (also referred to as a tropical depression, tropical storm, typhoon, or hurricane depending on strength and geographical context) is a type of low pressure system which generally forms in the tropics. While they can be highly destructive, tropical cyclones are an important part of the atmospheric circulation system, which moves heat from the equatorial region toward the higher latitudes.

On May 22, 2008, NOAA released their forecast for the 2008 Eastern Pacific and Central Pacific hurricane seasons. They predicted a below-normal level of activity in the Eastern Pacific, with 11 to 16 named storms, of which 5 to 8 were expected to become hurricanes, and 1 to 3 expected to become major hurricanes.[2] The Central Pacific basin was also expected to be slightly below average, with three to four tropical cyclones expected to form or cross into the area.

Website forecast03.17.08

Hello all, we see at the stats that quiet some people using the Baja Weather website to check on the forecast. Yet, we received some emails complaining about the information displayed is not correct. We apologize for that but we have no influence on that all! The weather conditions are submitted to the system we get our feeds from by many weather stations - in USA / CAN there are many more weather stations by number of course as down the Baja in Mexico. For example the only station we are aware of in La Paz is at the airport. The data we can retrieve is therefore based on the output of that station. (more…)

We are still busy with the new La Paz Infotheque website yet have made basic weather forecasts available on this website. You can find weather forecasts for Cabo San Lucas, La Paz and Loreto and the Mulege area by visiting this pages. “Basic” means it shows a 3 day forecast with temperature in metric Celsius and Fahrenheit, wind speed and wind directions. This is a more simple script and will be down the line replaced with a more sophisticated application for each location.

Is the Baja Weather website project dead??11.18.07

Nope… it's not. We tried to push it to have it ready for the past hurricane season. The time frame did not work in our favor. We will continue developing the site as soon as there is a time available… for sure before the next Baja hurricane season……
