At 200 PM PDT the center of Tropical Depression Eight-E was located near latitude 17.7 north/longitude 107.1 west. The depression is moving toward the west near 10 mph/17 km/h. This general motion is expected to continue through Sunday followed by a slower west-southwestward motion Sunday night and Monday. Maximum sustained winds remain near 35 mph/55 km/h with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and the depression could become a tropical storm later today or tonight. |
